Privacy policy
What we store about you, why we store it, and how to have it removed. Written from what the software actually does.
Who we are
TCV is a computer shop trading as [registered business name], at [registered address]. If you have a question about anything on this page, or want a copy of what we hold about you, write to [privacy contact email] and a person will answer.
What we store, and why
The list below is exhaustive for the current site. Each row names the table the data sits in, so it can be checked rather than taken on trust.
| What | Why | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Email address, and a name if you give one | To sign you in and to attach your orders to an account | auth.users, profiles |
| Delivery and billing addresses | To ship an order and to print an invoice | addresses, and a copy frozen onto orders |
| Orders and their contents | To fulfil them, and because we are required to keep sales records | orders, order_items, order_events |
| Basket contents, signed in or not | So a basket survives a page reload | carts, cart_items |
| Saved PC builds and wishlists | Only if you save one | builds, wishlists |
| Reviews, questions and any photos attached to them | To show them publicly, under the name you post with | reviews, questions, review_media |
| Repair, warranty and trade-in requests | To carry out the work and to tell you where it has got to | service_requests, warranty_registrations |
| Newsletter and stock or price alert signups | Only if you ask for them | newsletter_subscribers, price_alerts, stock_alerts |
| Messages sent through the contact form | To answer them | contact_messages |
What we do not do
- No advertising or analytics trackers. There is no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel and no third-party tag of any kind on this site.
- No card details. The site does not process payments at all yet, so no card number has ever reached it. When a payment provider is connected, card data will go to that provider directly and this page will be updated to name them.
- No selling or sharing of your data. Nothing is passed to a data broker, an advertiser or any other merchant.
- No profiling that changes what you are charged. Prices do not vary by who is looking.
Cookies
Two kinds, both necessary, neither used for advertising. A session cookie set by our authentication provider keeps you signed in. A cart token identifies your basket before you have an account. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to beyond these.
Who else can see it
Our hosting and database provider, Supabase, stores this data on our behalf and cannot use it for anything else. Our web host serves the pages. Couriers receive the delivery address and phone number for the order they are carrying, and nothing else. No one else receives anything.
How long we keep it
Orders and invoices are kept for as long as tax law requires us to keep sales records. Baskets that are never checked out are cleared after 90 days. Everything else is kept until you ask us to delete it, or until you close your account.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of everything held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Orders are the one exception: sales records have to be kept for the period tax law requires, so a deletion request removes your account and detaches it from past orders rather than erasing the orders themselves.
Write to [privacy contact email] with the email address on your account. We will answer within 30 days, and we will not ask you why.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or who sees it, the date below changes with it.
